Crestank Applauds NWSC for Marking 50 years of Excellence in Delivering Water for All to Ugandans

Uganda’s number one water tank manufacturer Crestank paid a courtesy visit to the National Water Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) and applauded its activities and achieving a deserved service to the nation as they mark 50 years of excellence services in enabling Ugandan families and homes have clean water under the universal coverage and also on the management sewerage and solid waste management services.

The Crestanks officials were led by General Manager Ajay Jain who praised NWSC for its quality services to Ugandans.

The Water Storage tank, Crestank Ajay also thanked NWSC for trusting them with supplying them with HDPE pipes and UPVC pipes, and water tanks for their projects.

Crestanks, Uganda’s number one water tank early this year scooped the accolades for the 2022 People’s Choice Awards for the best water tank in Uganda.

Flagging off the NWSC celebratory activities, the NWSC Board Chairman Dr. Eng. Prof Badru. M. Kiggundu highlighted some of the corporation’s achievements in the last 50 years some of which include; Survival of the economic turbulent times of the 1970s and 1980s, an Increase in the number of towns served by the corporation from 3 to 263, a Surge in number of people served with piped water from less than 200,000 to 18 million, Escalation in pipe network from less than 200kms to 22,000kms, Increase in a number of customer connections from 10,000 to 900,000, and, Support to health improvement and industrial development of Uganda.

NWSC Managing Director Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha attributed the corporation’s success to its hardworking staff, customers, and support from the Government of Uganda, and the Ministry of Water and Environment among many other stakeholders. He thus applauded Crestanks for its support of its programs and projects.

Eng. Mugisha shared that the President will unveil completed projects in Kapeeka, Kapchorwa, Sembabule, Fort Portal, Bushenyi, Lira, Jinja, and Katosi Water treatment plant, Bugolobi-Nakivubo Waste Water Treatment Plant among others. He will also flag off other projects under construction. These include; Lyantonde, Kyankwanzi, Kalungu, Mbale, Gulu, Adjumani, Soroti, Mbale, Ibanda, Kasese, and Hoima among many others.

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) is Uganda’s largest urban water authority providing potable water and sewerage services in 262 towns, with a customer base of 900,000 connections serving approximately 18 million people.

Established by Decree No. 34 of 1972, the principal business of the Corporation is to operate and provide water and sewerage services in areas entrusted to it by the Government, on a commercial and financially viable basis.

This year 2022 marks 50 years of NWSC’s contribution to the government’s sustained efforts in promoting the country’s socioeconomic transformation and industrialization growth.
