Democratic Party extends days for returning of forms

The Democrats in Uganda under the leadership of Norbert Mao have extended days for the deadline of returning forms of candidates who want to contest for various positions on Democratic Party ticket.

The deadline has been postponed to 7th on Monday next week and then display of those the names shall be made the following day.

The president general of the party while speaking to journalists, said; “we shall not close out anybody, we have extended the days to give chance to our members to contest”.

Mao warned contesting candidates over using his name to solicit for votes. “Do not say that I have come to fight for Mao, where have you been ever since”

Mao also warned councilors over making alliances and he told all candidates to be vigilant especially towards those areas where the National Resistance Movement has strong forces. He said that they have got superb candidates to contest in Kyankwanzi district.

Mao attacked the members of parliament that departed Democratic Party and joined the National Unity Platform whom he referred to as weak candidates at the ground and only needed someone else’s power to assist them. He also called upon DP members to be positive and promised them victory for most of the positions.

President Mao also apologized to journalists and promised to settle all the disputes that he had with the media.

He said that he established a committee that will deal with the media issues at the party. At the conference DP registered five new members who joined the party.
