The National and Sewerage Corporation a body mandated to provide universal access to clean and safe water in Uganda, informs the general public and its customers to always use digital payment methods in payment and clearing of water bills propmptly.
With prompt payments,clean and safe water is accessible to millions of homes and businesses under the programme Code named “Water for ALL” UNIVERSAL ACCESS as mentioned in the national development programme and those of the NRM Government.
The NWSC,under the leadership of Managing Director Eng. Dr. Silver Mugisha, has implemented innovative systems to make bill payments seamless and convenient. Customers can now opt for direct debit services, where banks automatically settle monthly bills, or use popular mobile money platforms like MTN and Airtel to pay anywhere, anytime. These initiatives aim to eliminate barriers to prompt payments while enhancing customer experience.

To check your water bill, follow these steps: Visit the NWSC online portal at https://apps.nwsc.co.ug/online/Register.aspx. Fill in your Customer Number, Telephone Number, First and Last Name, and Email Address. Create a password and access your account for bill details, statements, and more.

- What is a “unit” on a water meter? A unit of water on a meter is equivalent to 1,000 litres (1 cubic meter). For example, if your water meter reads “10,” it means you’ve consumed 10,000 litres.
- How many jerrycans are in one unit of water? One unit of water, or 1,000 litres, fills approximately 50 jerrycans.
- How much does it cost to acquire a water meter in Uganda? A standard domestic water meter costs about UGX 60,000. A pre-paid water meter, including the necessary software, costs approximately UGX 1.2 million.
