DP president Mao cautions flag bearers about Alliances

Mao also warned branch leaders about frustrating Democratic Party members who want to contest on different positions.

Democratic Party National president Norbert Mao has come out this afternoon and cautioned all Democratic flag bearers who have taken advantage of the prevailing political storms in Uganda and  decided to make alliances with other parties.

While speaking in a press conference, Mao said that all flag bearers doing local alliances should stop with immediate effect.

“Alliances should be made at institutional level and not at local level”. He named out Julius Mutebi of Nansana who joined NUP and advised him to be a freelance campaigner.

Mao also warned branch leaders about frustrating Democratic Party members who want to contest on different positions.

He said that Democratic Party has no sole candidature and whoever wants to contest should be given space.

He called upon women to come up and contest on different levels of positions and take up different party positions.

It should be noted that Democratic Party will hold the National Delegates Conference on 12th September at Sir Samuel Baker secondary school in Gulu and will last for three days and a minimum of 900 delegates will attend the conference.

Mao said that they will try their level best that the delegates are facilitated well and are comfortable.

He further stressed that there will be constitution amendments that will create Kampala a region and all divisions incuding Makindye, Rubaga, Nakawa, Central and Kawempe shall be created as districts.

Mao said that veterans, persons with disabilities and the Ugandans in Diaspora shall be included in the amendment to ensure that there is inclusivity of every organ in the constitution.
