The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) cancelled other two tournaments for this year. The decision comes after FUFA Executive Committee meeting held at Mengo.

FUFA Drum and Odilo Primary School tournaments due to the ongoing health concerns about the COVID-19 Pandemic that has put a halt to a number of sports activities.

FUFA confirmed the mentioned decision as one of the many that were taken by the EXCOM following the Status of Competitions

(i) The following competitions have been cancelled for 2019:

The FUFA Drum 3rd Edition and the Odilo 2nd Edition the FUFA Primary Schools Football Championship

The FUFA Drum is an annual tournament that was introduced two years ago were 16 provinces that form Uganda compete. Besides, the football bit, the tournament has been envisaged as a platform to celebrate ancestry and promote domestic tourism as well.

The tournament was supposed to make its third edition this year but because no sports event or tournament has been given the green light to restart, it has been cancelled.

The Acholi province are the defending champions after edging Bukedi in the final played at Pece Stadium in Gulu last year. On the other hand, the Odilo Primary Schools championship was introduced last year with Rays of Grace Primary School from Buikwe District emerging winners.

The tournament was supposed to return this year with the girls’ competition added but this has been cancelled.

Also the FUFA Excom approved the request of eleven clubs with Uganda Premier League side Bright Stars FC change name to Soltilo Bright Stars Football Club after the club’s Japanese majority shareholders of Soltilo Limited.

Among other decisions made is the approval of the change of the ownership of FUFA Big League side Dove All Stars who will be known as Arua Hill Football Club owned by Development Structures (U) Ltd with immediate effect.

Light SS FC has changed their identity to Soroti City FC while Bukedea Town Council will now be known as Black Power FC. While Sorts Barca FC’s request to change the name to Ibanda United was unanimously rejected because the name was currently used by another club.

Ibanda United have changed their name to Ibanda Municipal Sports Club therefore their previous name couldn’t be used by another club to avoid lack of clarity.
