Presidential aspirant Gen Henry Tumukunde was today summoned by police to record a statement on his political activities.
According to astatement issued by director CIID Grace Akullo,indicate that Gen.Tumukunde who declared intentions to contest for the president of Uganda come 2021 is needed to answer some questions on his conduct and handling of his political activities.
The police spokesperson Fred Enanga says Gen.Tumukunde is among the several politicians who have been summoned to record statements for violating presidential directives while addressing their supporters.
Enanga says, other politicians who have already recorded statements over the same include, the NRM candidate aspiring for the Kween district parliamentary seat Winifred Chemutai and Dickson Kateshubwa who is vying for the Sheema seat.
The leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), also Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi is expected to appear at the Criminal Investigations Directorate over alleged failure to comply with the set Covid-19 Standard Operation Procedures.
Gen. Tumukunde’s indictment by police CID comes a few days after he officially announced his plans to hold nationwide consultation on his presidential ambitions after picking his nomination forms.
