Ampaire Daphine a resident of Katereza cell, Katungu parish, Rugyeyo Sub-county in Kanungu District was sentenced for defiling a 17-year-old teenage boy whose name is withheld as he was a minor at the time of the incident.
Prosecution states that on 17th January 2019, Ampaire Daphine invited the teenage boy, a resident of Mutojo cell, Kishoro parish, Katete Sub County, Kanungu District to her home promising to train him in sex and had sexual intercourse with the victim.
Ampaire pleaded guilty to the charges.
Justice Tom Chemutai handed her a fair punishment for not wasting the courts’ time and sentenced her to 9 years in jail but considered the 4 years and 1 month she has spent on remand, so she will serve 4 years and 11 months.
According to the Penal Code act, sexual intercourse between an adult and a child above 14 years is an offense for which the adult is liable on conviction, to imprisonment for 18 years.
