The newly appointed minister of state for Economic Monitoring in the office of the president Molly Naawe Kamukama has taken an oath of allegiance and an oath of a Member of Parliament to formalize her presence as an ex-officio member in the 10th parliament.
Kamukama, the immediate former Principal Private Secretary to the President is the only ex-officio member who was appointed to cabinet without being elected as a Member of Parliament in the latest cabinet reshuffle done by the President.
This follows the swearing in of eight newly appointed ministers by the President at state house, Entebbe to start executing their duties.
The oath has been administered by the Clerk to Parliament in the afternoon plenary sitting chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga who later presented a copy of the Constitution and Parliament Rules of Procedure to the new member.
She however, does not have a right to vote on any issue requiring a vote in Parliament.
She has declared her intention to contest as a woman member of Parliament representing the newly created Kazo district (2021-2026). Kazo was curved out of Kiruhura district and it became operational in July last year.
