The Democratic Party candidate in the Entebbe Mayoral race Vincent De Paul Kayanja has filed a notice of appeal in the high court contesting the decision of the High Court in Kampala that quashed his application to nullify Mr Fabrice Rulinda as Entebbe Mayor.

In an application dated September 27th, Kayanja through his lawyers, M/S Alaka & Company Advocates requested for certified copies of the ruling and the typed record of proceedings to be availed in order to formulate grounds for appeal.

“The petitioner being dissatisfied with the ruling of the high court at Kampala delivered on the 24th day of September 2021, by the Hon Justice Isaac Muwata intends to appeal to the Court of Appeal of Uganda against the ruling,” the application read.

Last Friday, the high court judge quashed the application on grounds that the petitioner used affidavits that could not be authenticated and un authentic declaration forms in court .

On Thursday, a day before the ruling Ediriisa Matovu also known as Figo went furious against the NRM members in Entebbe who he claimed had refused to support Mr Rulinda in court, despite the NRM secretariat having given them all necessary resources including fuel that would transport supporters to court to enhance capacity to win the petition.

Kayanja had petitioned the court seeking the immediate nullification of Mr Rulinda as the elected Mayor of Entebbe. Kayanja claims, Rulinda forged declaration forms and forced his declaration in Wakiso despite being the third runner’s up in the Mayoral race.

He also wants court to certify and declare that he is the rightful winner of the Entebbe Mayoral Election and be sworn in as the rightful leader of the Municipality.
