In a letter dated 7th October 2021, Kyambogo University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eli Katunguka revealed that the university will fully reopen for physical lectures on 1st November 2021 as directed by President Museveni.

While informing the university’s teaching staff, Katunguka revealed that resident students will report on Saturday 30th October, 2021.

“As you are well aware, the President of the Republic of Uganda allowed Higher Education Institutions to re-open for students with effect from 1st November, 2021. Following the President’s guidance, Senate at its Special Meeting held on 6th October, 2021, agreed to comply with the Government’s directive to re-open the University in November 2021. The resident students will report on Saturday 30. October, 2021.” Katunguka’s letter reads in

He further revealed that students will study for a period of four weeks after which they will kick off end of semester exams.

According to the letter, students will sit for their exams between 29th November -23rd December 2021. The university will officially conclude the semester and break off for holidays on 24th December 2021.

“It was agreed that students will have four weeks of Blended Lectures and three to four weeks of examinations. All Deans and Heads of Departments are urged to ensure that arrangements are made to guarantee that teaching, learning and assessment take place in a safe environment while observing the SOPS. The deans of faculties/schools have the ultimate responsibility to guide academic matters in their units and to ensure compliance with these  guidelines.” Katunguka added.

The Kyambogo VC further urged students and lecturers to get vaccinated against COVID-19 at several designated vaccination centres in the country as well as from Kyambogo University Medical Centre.
