The Oaths of Alliegience’What is it?

on Monday 17th May Ugandan Legislators took oath as mandatory duty to begin work of service after duly elected by people under the democratic political system.

Accordingly, the Oath of Allegiance is Judicial or Official Oath) is a promise to be loyal to the people of Uganda and respecting the upholding of the constitution according to the law as a public servant, some of these are extracted from the current standard wording of the oath of allegiance is set out in the Promissory Oaths Act 1868 for countries that fall under the commonwealth system.

Variants of the basic oath of allegiance are also incorporated into a number of other oaths taken by certain individuals.

The Oath of Allegiance reads:

I, ____________________[NAME]________________ , swear in the name of the Almighty God/solemnly affirm that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Republic of Uganda and that I will preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. [So help me God.]

The Oath of Member of Parliament reads:

I, ____[NAME]_________________________, swear in the name of the Almighty God/solemnly affirm that I will give faithful service to this Parliament and support and uphold the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda as by law established. [So help me God.]
