The President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has ordered that fallen statesman Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere is accorded a state funeral.

Milly Babalanda, Minister for Presidency said in a morning tweet on Saturday.

Ssemogerere died on Friday morning at his home in Rubaga. An earlier program issued by the family indicated that Ssemogerere would be buried on Monday.

However, President Museveni’s directive may amend the burial program.

“H.E the President has this morning directed that fallen former DP President General, Hon. Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere is accorded an official funeral. All arrangements are, accordingly, underway. BMB” Babalanda posted.

A state funeral is a public funeral ceremony, observing the strict protocol rules, held to honour people of national significance.

The former DP President falls directly among those who should be accorded such funerals. He also served as a Minister in President Museveni’s government.

The former DP President died on Friday 18th November morning hours at his home found in Lubaga division Kampala suburb.
