The Deceased Speaker Jacob Oulanyah’s father has trashed all rumours rotating around his son’s death saying the ‘reality is my son was poisoned.’

Mr. Nathan Okori told hundreds of mourners at their ancestral home in Omoro District that his son didn’t die of natural cause adding that whatever therefore is rumoured around his son’s death should be trashed as lies.

“But anyway don’t politicise the death of my son. Oulanyah revealed the cause of his illness which suddenly began manifesting publicly after he became speaker last year in May before travelling for specialised medical care in the US,”says Oulanyah’s father Okori without mentioning who could have poisoned his son as he alleges.

Oulanyah passed on March 20 in Seattle, the US where he was being treated at.

In his message of condolence, Museveni said Oulanyah was a good Cadre, and that he had to delay the announcement to get his children to be informed first.

“I got information of this sad news at 10.30am, East African time from People that have been with him and the doctor that was caring for him in the intensive care unit,” Museveni said.

The late Speaker was elected to that position on May 24, 2021, after defeating the former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.

He had also served as Deputy Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, from May 2011 until May 2021.

Oulanyah was also a member of parliament representing the Omoro County Constituency, Omoro District, Acholi sub-region, in Uganda’s Northern Region.
