Nimrah Mugoya Princess 12, is among 749,761 candidates who sat their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) for 2020 and managed to score 8 aggregates. She has been studying at Homisdallen Primary School, Gayaza.

Nimrah who wants to be a surgeon in future, says that she will focus on sciences once admitted at Kibuli SS, where she put her first choice.

“Once I become a doctor specializing in Surgeon, it will help me to give much care for my parents. I will also save my parents from the burden of paying huge hospital bills which many poor Ugandans can’t afford now,” she says.

Nimrah has attributed her success to studying on Zoom during Covid-19 lock down last year since she managed to complete her syllabus on zoom lessons at home.

“However Zoom had some challenges like network failure and being expensive to my parents, where by sometimes, I could miss some lessons due to lack of data bundles,” she says.

Nimrah also says that studying on Zoom at home also had challenges of not concentrating well in Zoom class since her mother could call her in the middle of the lesson and then sends her to the shop to buy some goods which could make her miss some information.

Nimrah who also trains women soccer under Preston Soccer Academy, says she mainly do it to with intent of scheming for a bursary in secondary school and save her parents from the burden of school fees.

Her school was the fifth, among the first 100 best schools in Wakiso district. The school had a total of 391 candidates and out of these 285 pupils passed in first grade, five in second grade and one in third grade.

A total of 749,761 candidates sat PLE in 2020, over 80,000 of them passed in division one, although Uneb withheld 2,220 results which are still under investigations of examination mal practices.

According to Uneb, more pupils passed 2020 PLE, compared to 2019, despite disruptions caused by Covid-19. zuraneetah2015@gmail.com
