A seven-member committee has been appointed by Thomas Tayebwa, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, to investigate the censure motion against Minister Persis Namuganza and identify prima facie evidence.

Tayebwa stated that the appointed select committee complies with Rule 109(9) while presiding over the house on Friday afternoon.

Tayebwa says that 14 days after the motion is sent to the president, parliament must convene and set up a select committee to look into it.

The committee, led by Mwine Mpaka, a Mbarara South MP, has 15 days to review all of the evidence and provide a report to the House.

When Namuganza stated that the house of representatives does not have the authority to discipline her, she is accused of compromising the integrity of the legislature.

The following people are also on the select committee: Wilfred Niwagaba is the Ndorwa East MP; Mpindi Bumali is the PWD’s MP; Charles Bakkabulindi is the Workers MP; Nancy Acora is the Lamwo MP; Betty Naluyima is the Wakiso MP; Godfrey Ekanya is the Tororo MP.
