NRM Retreat Deepens Ideological Grounding of Newly Elected MPs, Says Party Finance Director

KAMPALA. Abraham Luzzi Mbazzi from Mityana district, Dan Kasumba Zaake from Nakaseke district, Andrew Mutebi from Bukomansimbi district joined Democratic Party leaving their former and the ruling National Resistance Movement.

The three were given DP membership cards yesterday at the party headquarters located in Balintuma road were serving in the NRM party as leaders in their constituencies.

Whereas Dan Kasumba Zaake was the NRM spokes person of Nakaseke district, Andrew Mutebi was serving as the district treasurer of NRM Bukomansimbi.

The three confirmed their loyalty to the party and promised to work wholeheartedly towards the growth of the party.

They also promised to recruit more members from NRM and convince them to join Democratic Party.

“Although seeking for votes in Nakaseke is a tough issue, I will endure all the circumstances and I promise that more members are going to join DP on our influence.” Dan Zaake added.

Luzzi called upon all NRM members whom he referred to as the annoyed members to come and join DP which he said is the party of Truth and Justice.

Fred Mwesige the party spokes person who welcomed the new baptized members also warned the party candidates who want to get DP tickets and want to nominate on other party tickets.

“We shall block you using the law, not by violence, we have that capacity and you will not nominate,” he added.

Hon. Mbidde Mukasa the party vice president of DP who also presided over the unveiling ceremony of the new members to the party said that they have gone in the bush to hunt for the strong lions thereby recruiting from the ruling party which is NRM.

If you want to slaughter the animal, look straight in its eye, then we as the party we have decided to invade and recruit from the NRM. Mbidde added.

He advised the new members to work together with the old members and discouraged them from fighting for positions but rather they should seek for office and win.

“Those, whom we have unveiled today, do not fight with anybody but just run for office and win.”

Mbidde further showed his disgrace on the recent completed NRM primaries and said that this was a clear indication that there will be violence in the forth coming general elections and promised that they are ready to fight for themselves if there is any action that is intended to disrupt the 2021 general elections.

Norbert Mao the Party President General warned those officials who ask for money from the candidates in order to be given the party stamp.

“If you are found guilty of the act, I have been looking for you and I will fight you.” Mao said.

He also said that they are going to audit all party branch offices to solve the challenge of embezzlement of funds of the party. Mao confirmed that he had the mandate to follow up on the party activities and properties despite of the prevailing political storms.

More so, Mao welcomed the new members and encouraged them to recruit other members from the NRM which is the biggest party.

“We become stronger when we recruit from the ruling party unlike when we get members from UPC, FDC, JEEMA all which I call internal decoration.” Mao said

The ceremony was also honored by a cloud of mammoth of supporters and aspiring DP ticket candidates from different parts of the country, including Kampala, Wakiso, Mityana, Bukomansimbi, Nakaseke and others.
