The National Water and Sewerage Corporation’s (NWSC) Mukono and Seeta teams have taken to participation in preparing for the implementation of a five-year development plan funded by the World Bank, which aims to transform key infrastructure in the region. The plan includes the tarmacking of access roads, the construction of drainage systems, and the development of local markets, all of which are expected to significantly enhance connectivity and socio-economic conditions in Mukono.

During a recent site visit, key representatives from NWSC, including Ag. Branch Manager-Birungi Hajara, Billing Performance Analyst-Jackson Kwetegyeka, Ag Branch Engineer-Julius Onyango, and Technical Supervisor from Seeta, Joseph Opolot, joined forces with officials from the China Communications Construction Company Ltd (C.C.C.C), the Ministry of Greater Kampala Metropolitan Affairs, the Office of the President, and Municipal Engineers. This collaborative effort was centered around reviewing the roads earmarked for tarmacking in the project’s first phase, particularly the Kame-Nabuuti-Katosi Road and the Nasuuti-Ntawo-Bajjo-Kigunga Link, with the latter being overseen by Sterling Construction Company.

The site visit proved crucial in identifying key fixtures within the Mukono Water Supply Network and assessing the potential impact of road works on existing water lines. By engaging directly with contractors and municipal technocrats, the teams were able to address concerns that could arise during the construction process, ensuring that the infrastructure improvements will not compromise water supply services.

This collaboration is expected to facilitate the seamless execution of the project, aligning with the Government of Uganda’s broader objectives of enhancing regional infrastructure and fostering socio-economic growth.
