The Parish Priest of Christ the King, Msgr Gerald Kalumba has appealed to the government to reopen places of worship citing that churches are places where faith communities congregate to comfort each other.

“In this hard times people need to be more closure to God as the country’s comes to an end,” he said

Msgr Kalumba adds that that places of Worship should be opened because people come together for worship, devotion and ask for Gods guidance about the challenges facing the country.

He further expressed their readiness as religious leaders in abiding by with the Standard Operating Procedures [SOPs] put in place by the Ministry of Health, to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘’We sat down to see how best we can offer services to the people in case churches are opened, We can have shorter services so that everyone is catered for and I believe people are eager to come and pray,” he said.

Restrictions on religious gatherings are among the directives that President Museveni issued on March 18, as one of the measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 pandemic that broke out from China in December 2019.

All religious denominations are calling upon the government to consider reopening worship centers that include; Churches, Mosques and Shrines.
