Parliament has successfully executed the swearing-in ceremony for 529 Members of Parliament, who were declared by Election in the 14 January 2021 general elections.

The four-day event that started on 1th and concluded on Thursday, 20 May 2021 saw 131 MPs-elect taking oaths of allegiance and Member of Parliament on the day, in a ceremony broadcast across the country on different media.

A total of 30 Members of Parliament under the special interest groups have been sworn in as part of the 11th Parliament, including 10 Members representing the army, five representing older persons, five representing the youth, five representing workers, and five representing persons with disability.

The taking of oaths was presided over by the Clerk to Parliament Jane L. Kibirige. The new MPs will now attend the first sitting of the first session of the 11th Parliament scheduled to take place at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds Monday, 24 May 2021.

At the sitting, the MPs will vote for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
The election and swearing-in of the Speaker of the 11th Parliament will be presided over by the Chief Justice, His Lordship Alphonse Owiny-Dollo, who will then hand over to the Speaker to preside over the election of the Deputy Speaker.

The MPs are undergoing a prerequisite Covid-19 testing exercise, before attending the first sitting due Monday 24th May 2021 at Kololo Independence grounds.
