After the successful conclusion of the swearing-in activity for the members in 11th parliament on 20th May, Parliament is also charged with a duty to elect a new speaker and deputy speaker respectively on the first sitting that will be held on Monday 24th at Kololo independence grounds.

With the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker done, the House sits to consider a motion for the approval of the nominee for the Vice President in accordance with Article 108(2) of the Constitution. Thereafter, the House also considers a motion to approve the Presidential nominee for the Prime Minister, who also serves as the Leader of Government Business.
