Police in Mbarara condemn mob justice after angry residents lynch a man for murdering woman

Police in Mbarara has launched investigations into the circumstances that led to the death of two people.

The deceased were identified as Naume Bugaiga, 35, a resident of Kyarwabuganda cell, Kakiika division, Mbarara district and Herbert Kigyondo, 35 of the same area.

It’s alleged that Bugaiga was attacked with an iron bar by Herbert, a renowned drug addict hitting her to death.

Mujuni Abani, 7 a son to the deceased who witnessed the incident raised an alarm which attracted the neighbours to the scene.

The angry mob found the suspect locked himself inside the house before killing him instantly.

Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi police spokesperson, said that the police was tipped off and team of homicide detectives visited the scene and found two bodies lying at the scene

Kasasira said that the motive of the murder has not yet been established as the two bodies were taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital for postmortem
