Security beefed up Mbarara town as free Bobi wine protests rage across the country

Security forces in Mbarara City has been Beefed up to combat any suspected chaos by NUP supporters demanding for release of their presidential flag bearer Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu.

Hon.Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine was arrested on 18th, November, 2020 in Luuka district after his Supporters exceeded the maximum number of supporter’s ssupposed to attend a rally. 

According to Rwizi police mouthpiece, Samson Kasasira the deployment follows the on-going protests in other cities such as Kampala, Masaka, Luwero by NUP Supporters.

He added that they have resorted to patrols around the city such that in case of any riots by NUP supporters they are in position to respond immediately.

“So far the situation in Mbarara city is still calm but we have   resorted to patrols around Mbarara city to combat any riots that may arise,” Kasasira noted.

According to police sofa, 29 people have died in the on-going protests and over 35 people are nursing wounds in different hospitals within Kampala.
