Sudan sought to hold a summit of foreign ministers of the IGAD countries, indicating that Sudan has returned to play new roles for the benefit of the IGAD countries.
This endeavor confirms that Sudan has begun to regain its political breath after difficult times in which Sudan’s contribution to building stability in the IGAD countries was absent, although it assumed the presidency of IGAD three years ago.
For this reason, we saw a member of the Sovereignty Council, Ibrahim Jaber, in the capital, Kampala, holding meetings with President Museveni in order to present Sudan’s vision to reform the IGAD organization and activate its role to serve the people of the region, as Sudan presents what is known as the 2023 road map.
Sudan’s interest in reactivating the regional organization and playing effective roles appears in the personality of the special presidential envoy, General Ibrahim Jaber, who is considered one of the most powerful generals in the military council throughout the transitional period in which Sudan has been living since the fall of the Bashir regime.
Where it is considered among many observers of the situation in Sudan that General Jaber holds sensitive files in Sudan’s external relations, in addition to that he appears to be the unannounced prime minister since the army took power in October last year, as you find General Jaber heading the Supreme Committee for Dealing with the United Nations in Sudan He also continued to represent Sudan permanently at the Summit of the Lakes States and the Sahel and Desert countries, where he succeeded in activating Sudan’s membership in these organizations after an absence for many years since the secession of the State of South Sudan and the fall of the regime of General Omar al-Bashir.
His tour of the IGAD countries, including his meeting with President Museveni, reflects that the man has a vision and a strategic dimension in international and regional relations, in order to benefit from them to serve the peoples of this region who have suffered from strikes for decades.
According to the statements and meetings that took place here in the capital, Kampala, by General Jaber, who presented Sudan’s vision for the IGAD organization for the year 2023, he seeks to enter into non-traditional partnerships between the countries of the organization in terms of economy and security, and to unify positions on public and private issues in the IGAD countries, he confirms that we are facing a general that is different from The patterns of the generals that used to dominate the situation in Sudan or the Ugandan neighboring countries Sudan’s endeavor to reform the IGAD organization to be concerned with the development and economic partnerships between the organization’s countries and international partners reflects an ambitious vision in a region that has been exporting news of death and armed conflicts for decades, especially since the countries of the IGAD organization are rich in natural resources from fertile lands in Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda and Ethiopia, along with staff Distinguished and experienced human being in agriculture for thousands of years Therefore, it is understandable why Sudan has presented an ambitious plan to ensure food security for the peoples of the region through the inter-partnerships of the IGAD countries with international partners and donors who are concerned about the provision of food products considering the decreasing agricultural area in the world due to climate change.
All these ambitious ideas clearly reflect that Sudan is returning strongly to its vital space and geopolitics, in which it has been interested and active for decades, and that it is beginning to recover from the diseases of transitional periods that put countries in a state of political coma
It is also clear that we are facing a new type of general in Sudan, who is represented by General Jaber, who seems to be the man of difficult missions in Sudan, although it is rare to find his pictures filling news agencies or newspapers, but you find the impact of his successes in linking Sudan with the West African countries that The news carried his meetings with African leaders, which culminated in the annexation of Sudan to the Sahel and Sahara countries, the lakes region, and now the IGAD countries.
It is also rumored among journalists and observers that he is the hidden prime minister who succeeded in stabilizing the exchange rate of the dollar for a whole year and running work in the various state ministries considering the uninterrupted popular demonstrations in the streets of Khartoum for a whole year.
All of this makes General Jaber the title of the strong general, but the silent type.Sudan’s success in coming up with a unified vision for its plan to reform the IGAD organization and reaching strategic understandings in reaching non-traditional partnerships through the meetings of the organization’s foreign ministers scheduled for next October 30 is considered the biggest challenge since the establishment of the organization more than 30 years ago.
Especially since many of the issues that occupy space in the African-African discussions in terms of security or politics are all located between or within the IGAD countries, whether the internal conflict is in Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia, or between Sudan and Ethiopia, or between Eritrea, Somalia, and Djibouti.
Therefore, the success of the IGAD countries in reforming the organization to play political and security roles in the areas of combating terrorism, human trafficking, and arms smuggling, or building successful and unconventional economic partnerships will re-present the countries of the region as being appropriate to the spirit of the post-corona world, which began to take shape and draw new features for the borders of latitude and longitude. The political victory is not between the international poles, but in Africa and the region as well.
