While talking to the youths from Busega and kibumbiro who had gathered for a health sensitization meeting, Mastula said that the poor use of the internet by most of the youth has rose cases of sex exploitation among the teenagers and the youths which has continued to affect their emotional and physical life status.

Mastula  said that most of the youths  between thirteen and twenty four years  who have  access to the internet have used it in the wrong way while searching for pornographic pictures and betting  which has lured the growth of immorality  among the youths at such a tender age of their future.

She called upon parents to be vigorous and conscious about their children in this lockdown to reduce on the number of youths who access the internet for no good reasons.

“Parents help us and play your role, try to monitor how your child uses the phone, who are their friends and where do they play from”, Brenda requested.

Brenda Nankanja a youth leader from in Mutundwe alarmed the government to find all means to stop access to internet for illicit pictures and betting to persons under the age of eighteen.

She further discouraged youths from peer groups that will ruin on their future and advised them to choose friends who can add a positive impact to their lives.

Shafick Kakande one of the youth who had attended the session called upon parents who have neglected their role to come out and show parental love to their children.

He further requested parents to pay close attention to the type of friends that their children chose when they are still young because it determines their future.

“We can tell them our grievances and challenges but they do not show us that love we like” Kakande added.

However, youths raised their concern about why they get engaged in sexual exploitation and stressed that poverty, easy access to the internet, and negligence of parents to play their role have fostered the rise of immoral cases among the youths.
