On the redevelopment of the StarTimes stadium, the Minister for Kampala Betty Amongi has confirmed its going to be re-developed with an annual sh2.5b support from the government out of the proposed 10Bn.

Also, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has promised to fund all teams in the city through their SACCOs.

During the KCCA FC TV weekly show which airs on Sunday, Betty Amongi the Minister for Kampala said they are not going to only support KCCA Football Club players and their fans with funds through SACCOs as it was rumored but also to other clubs with organized SACCOs.

“We are also going to support the fans form SACCOs and the players through the youth livelihood fund, Community Driven Development Programme (CDD) and others,” said Amongi.

“We shall invest in their SACCOs so that while they are engaging in sports, they are also building their economic base. The support will extend it to other clubs in the city that will form themselves into a Sacco and other youth groups,” she added.

The minister said the different fan groups of the different teams could also be beneficiaries because they are the ones that make football vibrant.

On the redevelopment of the StarTimes stadium, she confirmed that it was going to be re-developed with an annual sh2.5b support from the government.

“As a government, we are going to work together to ensure we support this team. We are looking at building a modern stadium so that those playing can play at a modern facility so that we are able to help in the development of KCCA FC and other clubs in the city.

“We are going to support KCCA FC to ensure they develop a center of excellence that will support young talented boys in different age groups that will support the development of football right from a young age with the support of their parents,” she stated.

“I want to call on everyone to support the team because we are now aiming to be the best club in Africa and I want to hail all teams that have continued to offer competition to KCCA FC because it is through competition that we have been able to build this side into a great team for the city,”

She applauded KCCA FC opponents for offering competition that has enabled the team to become the best and for KCCA FC for grooming youthful players like Allan Okello, Derrick Nsimbabi, and Timothy Awany who are now playing professional football outside the country.

Meanwhile, KCCA FC also confirmed the departure of attacking midfielder Erisa Ssekisambu ahead of the 2020-2021 season and was revealed by the head of communications Moses Magero during a KCCA FC TV show on Sunday night.

“Ssekisambu’s contract has expired and has left the club,” said Magero.

He joined KCCA FC last year on a year deal, with his contract expiring on June 6, 2020. Earlier, Ssekisambu’s agent Ronnie Santos Mwine had revealed that he was in contact with KCCA FC to see that his client’s contract is renewed. He leaves KCCA FC without a league trophy, which he had won with URA (2014), Villa (2015) and Vipers (2016).

He is the latest player to officially leave KCCA FC after Jackson Nunda (URA), Jamil Malyamungu, Tom Ikara (Police), Mike Mutyaba (retired), Eric Ssenjobe (Police) and Mustafa Kizza (Montreal Impact).

Saddam Juma, Nicholas Kasozi and Muzamir Mutyaba are reportedly leaving the club, awaiting official communication from the club.
