The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, under the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) Project, will officiate a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony with selected Common User Production Facilities (CUPFs) that will provide gender-inclusive infrastructure services to women entrepreneurs.

This important engagement marks another significant milestone in the implementation of the GROW Project, a Government of Uganda initiative aimed at increasing access to entrepreneurial services that support the growth and productivity of women-owned enterprises across the country.

The signing of this MoU formalizes collaboration between the Ministry and the participating Common User Production Facilities, which are expected to provide shared production and value-addition infrastructure that responds to the practical needs of women entrepreneurs.

These facilities will help address some of the common barriers women face in business growth, including limited access to appropriate production spaces, equipment, processing support, and business-enabling infrastructure.

This first cohort of Common User Production Facilities has been selected with a regional distribution approach in recognition of the GROW Project’s national mandate to support women entrepreneurs across Uganda. The facilities have also been aligned to the key trades and enterprise sectors in which women are most actively engaged within their respective regions.

This approach is intended to ensure that the infrastructure support provided is not only geographically inclusive, but also relevant to the economic realities, production patterns, and business opportunities of women entrepreneurs in different parts of the country.

Through this partnership, women entrepreneurs under the GROW Project will have improved opportunities to access inclusive and supportive infrastructure services that can enhance product quality, improve productivity, lower operational costs, and strengthen their participation in value chains and markets.

The MoU Signing Ceremony therefore reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to promoting women’s economic empowerment through practical, inclusive, and sustainable interventions that respond to the realities of women in business. It also underscores Government’s recognition that access to gender-responsive infrastructure is essential for unlocking the full potential of women entrepreneurs and accelerating enterprise growth.

The event will bring together officials from the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, representatives of the GROW Project, management of the selected Common User Production Facilities, development partners, and other key stakeholders.

Members of the media are invited to cover this important occasion as the Ministry strengthens partnerships aimed at expanding opportunities for women entrepreneurs to thrive.
