In her message released Thursday evening, she said: “May the peace of God fill our hearts, our homes, and our country during this festive season. If there was ever a time we needed to thank God, it is now. God has preserved us through a very difficult year, and He will continue to do so.”

Mrs. Museveni, who is also the minister of education and sports, says this has been a difficult year and thanked God for His protection.

She also prayed to God to comfort families that have lost their loved ones, and for strength for those who are still nursing their dear people.

“We pray for God’s comfort upon those families who have lost their loved ones, and healing for the sick among us.”

This has been a year in which COVID-19 has disrupted Uganda and the entire world, killing over 1.7 million people globally and over 240 people in Uganda.

As of today, 32,914 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Uganda, with 10,821 recoveries recorded.

The First Lady summed up her message by wishing everyone a great festive season.

“Merry Christmas and a blessed 2021!”
