The traders under their umbrella body, the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) has revealed that they will shortly be meeting the government o the issue of reopening their shops.
“KACITA would like to inform the business community that today Monday 14th /07/2020, is to hold a meeting with the government and other stakeholders in reference to opening the arcades,” Thadues Musoke, the KACITA Secretary General said in a statement.
Musoke’s statement came in a period when police started dispersing traders who had turned up to reopen their shops, after the expiry the two weeks ultimatum that was given to government matured yesterday.
“KACITA-Uganda would like to inform the business community that Monday marked the expiry of the ultimatum given to the government to open arcades. All other parts of the country and the new approved cities like Mbarara, Masaka, Jinja the arcades were already in operation yet in Kampala were still closed,” adds the statement.
