The head of State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Lt Col Edith Nakalema, called upon UPDF officers and men to be exemplary and join her in the fight against corruption in the country.

Lt. Col Nakalema made the remarks while giving a lecture of opportunity to participants who had been undergoing a Special Investigations Course at Muhooti Barracks in Fort Portal, Kabarole district.

She called upon the students to teach and sensitize the public about the dangers of corruption while at the same time instilling a culture of dedicated selfless service in all issues that propel the growth of a nation.

“There is need for everyone to fight corruption right from the grass roots to the top if we are to have a corrupt free country. Refer to Article 17 (1)(i)of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda which spells out the duties of a citizen one of which is to combat corruption and misuse or wastage of public property,” noted Lt Col Nakalema.

In her closing remarks, Lt Col Nakalema promised never to close her eyes wherever she finds a corrupt government official, saying she is serving God and her country Uganda.

The LC V Chairperson for Kabarole district Mr Rwabuhinga reiterated his commitment to supporting the Anti-Corruption Unit in the fight against corruption, adding that such institutions ease government operations.

The lecture was also attended by Mr Stephen Asiimwe the RDC Kabarole District as well as Commandant School of Military Intelligence Lt Col James Muhumuza, among others.
