The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has stepped up efforts to stabilise water supply in Tororo with the installation of a new high-capacity pump at the Kisoko booster station.
The pump was received by the NWSC Tororo Area on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and is expected to improve the capacity of the booster station and restore water supply to about 292 customer connections that have remained without water for some time.
The intervention follows the failure of the existing pump at the station to adequately deliver water to the 232-cubic-metre reservoir at Kisoko Secondary School, affecting communities served by the facility.
NWSC said its Static Plant Team, working alongside the Tororo Area technical team, has started preparations for the installation and commissioning of the new equipment.
The commissioning is scheduled for Friday, September 25, 2026.
An NWSC official said the new pump would significantly increase pumping capacity and improve the reliability of water supply in the affected areas.
“The new pump will replace the existing pump whose capacity had become inadequate to effectively deliver water to the reservoir at Kisoko Secondary School,” the official said.
The official added that the intervention is expected to restore water to hundreds of customers who have endured prolonged interruptions.
“Installation and commissioning of the new pump is expected to restore supply to approximately 292 customer connections that have remained off supply for some time,” the official said.
The development is part of ongoing efforts by NWSC to address persistent water-supply challenges and improve service reliability in the Tororo Area.
The corporation also credited its top management for supporting interventions aimed at improving water services in the area, with particular appreciation extended to NWSC Managing Director Dr Eng Silver Mugisha and the management team.
“This intervention is another important step towards addressing persistent water-supply challenges and improving service reliability within the affected communities,” the NWSC statement said.
Residents and customers connected to the affected network are expected to benefit once the installation and commissioning of the new pump are successfully completed.
