Police officers, one suspect Perish in Magamaga Accident

Police have confirmed that two of its senior officers and one suspect have perished in the road accident at Magamaga trading center along Iganga-Jinja highway.

The deceased Deputy Assistant Inspector of Police, Emanuel Mawa and Deputy Sergeant Dick Magara both attached to the Crime CID headquarters and one suspect identified as Philippe Wadambwa.

According to the statement released, the accident involved a motor-vehicle registration number UBF 837K Toyota/premio silver in colour which was being driven by unknown had a collision a trailer registration number KCQ 638C/ZC Foton.

“And later a side brush with a police vehicle number UP 7483,” ASP James Mubi, the Busoga East Region police spokesperson said in a statement

According to ASP Mubi, Deputy Sergeant Oguti survived with critical injuries and is currently admitted at Jinja Referral Hospital, where he is receiving treatment,

“The bodies have been conveyed to Jinja hospital mortuary for postmortem.” He said adding that,

Investigations are under way to establish the cause of the accident.
